Love the app, miss near pop

I am a product director on another big scale mobile app, and I dearest the NYT app. It's visually appealing and thoughtful and I capeesh so many of the changes you lot guys accept fabricated throughout the past years. My merely wish, is that you terminate moving the "most popular" manufactures section. First information technology was a carousel (my favorite), then you limited it to a list view of only 4, so information technology was moved to a completely different part of your navigation and I had to search for it, and now it's gone. I can't find information technology. I enjoy seeing what'south almost read for several reasons and am bummed it's gone. If I could make one request, please bring this dorsum to your timeline.

An additional comment - I find your newer navigation confusing. You've substantially moved the whole navigation under "browse", non an immediately obvious title for this. And "for you" is not relevant to me, what I read, or what I practice. I literally play spelling bee every, single, day and hate that I accept to scroll all the way to the lesser of timeline (while information technology'southward updating which pushes me upwards the timeline, to only have to scroll down more) to get to information technology. If "for you" was really stuff I use, it should have spelling bee merely information technology doesn't.

This is the only app review I've ever written, i promise. And I'm writing it more than considering I dear the content and the app but wish these few things could change. Leaving feedback because I'grand hoping it's helpful!

Latest "upgrade" is a downgrade

As content, the NYT can't be beat out. Just this latest "resdesign" of the app is bad plenty to make me write a review for the commencement time. In a word it is over-designed. When scrolling through the main page, it volition suddenly "readjust", meaning an ad has loaded somewhere in the feed and y'all have lost your identify as it races upwards for you to view it. Once is bad but this happens a couple of times in a single ringlet.

When yous read an article, the new blueprint has inverse the place of the back arrow for role of the navigation merely is not the same throughout. I don't like playing estimate where the arrowis. But the biggest and reoccurring issue is the Sections page. What used to be a clear list of sections has now been buried under blocks of articles the NYT wants to spotlight for any reason. If I scrolled by information technology the first time, I don't demand to curl past information technology again. I'thousand here to observe a detail department, I know what I want.

Finally, the NYT really, really needs to work on the accurateness of their search function. Information technology is ludicrous that I tin't notice an article from iii days agone using specific keywords. For such peachy content, information technology's criminal to make it disappear. Delight exercise improve, NYT!!!

Not as intuitive every bit it once was

The NYT is full of great and varied content, so this review is non nearly the content, merely the app. They've fabricated a few updates to the UI in the by few months, each making the app less intuitive. I used to view my history or saved manufactures a lot when I didn't have time to finish reading a good story. This used to exist easily accessible in a side menu. Now information technology'south way more than subconscious, and I have to click a agglomeration of times to become to it. I can never remember where it is.
Too, the back push button is now on the bottom of the screen for well-nigh manufactures, except when you view certain articles like through wire cutter. Everytime I want to click back at the top of the screen (where the back push is located on almost every UI), it'due south not there. Sometimes there is a back button at the meridian of the screen when you click on a link through the article. I clicked on this to bring me back to the article, merely instead information technology took me to the front page. And and then I couldn't notice the article that I was only reading. Frustrating!

These are merely examples and audio similar small, nit-picky things, simply when you are constantly trying to figure out where to click, it adds time and makes the app annoying to use. I wish the UI developers prioritized mutual sense changes rather than but making the app "prettier."
